As you guys can tell from the title, today's post is about Korean Cuisine. I personally found that this is very exciting to share with you all especially for those who specifically love "Uncle Jang". Paniya Korean Restaurant is not as famous as Uncle Jang but in all aspect, i definitely much more prefer Paniya.
Friends around me including myself has once in love with Uncle Jang. *I even blogged about Uncle Jang in previous post* Unfortunately, i really think they have terrible customer service or just service in general. There are plenty of time i went to Puchong brunch as well as Ampang, they are close before the time they have stated. Its bearable if i reached like half an hour before their closing time, but thats not the case. Most of the time I reached one hour before the stated closing hour and when i step in, they just said its closed. It really leads to huge antipathy especially you have travel so far and it just sort of ruined the plan between you and your friends.
The exact same story, i've never been to the Solaris brunch, so i just thought of giving it a try in last Saturday. They have stated closing at 11pm on the weekend and i reach there about 9.45pm. The same thing, they said they are closed. So we walked around, just further down from Uncle Jang Solaris, and we found "PANIYA KOREAN TEPPAN BBQ"!!
They are actually closed at 10pm but the owner are kind enough and still serve us nicely. The owner is a Korean, he is so nice and thoughtfully introduce some of the famous dishes. He explained really detailed and even help us to pick up good combination.
Thats not all of the choice they have. I just simply take two pics to show you guys. Apologise for the bad skill thou. =(
Paniya is definitely a good alternative for Uncle Jang because they are selling same kind of foods but it has more variety and according to the owner, he said that Uncle Jang are using deep fried style kind of thing, so its more oily. Not just the foods are healthier and taste nicer, the environment is also much more comfortable.
So this is what I had for that night.
1. Oh Sam
Similar to Uncle Jang's Dak Galbi, but the ingredient here are pork slice, squid, some vegetables, and of course rice cake. Not sure if you can tell from the pic, but its taste really good and indeed less oily.
2. Kong Sam
The first and second dishes are similar to Uncle Jang, but i personally think that the price we paid are more worth because of the ingredient and taste. Similarly, you can add in Ramen, rice, or rice cake and more. We had ordered too much that day, if not i would definitely try out their ramen. So my advice for you all is just order one dished like the first and second one according to your own preference of ingredient and add in some side dishes as i mentioned earlier if you would like.
If you really want to compare between Paniya and Uncle Jang, Paniya has the exact same dishes Dak Galbi. But we just thought of trying something new that night. Will definitely update you guys if i have tried it out another time. =)
3. Glass Noodle
Thats actually not the real name but because i didnt capture down all the menu i couldn't remember what its called. I am sorry. But this is recommended by the owner, and it turns out really good. He recommend this because both the dishes we had are spicy so its better if we have something neutral to balance it up. It cost RM30 for this, a little pricey but it totally worth.
Thats pretty much what we ordered. One of the essential part in Korean cuisine are the side dishes, well.. i personally thought so. The variety of side dishes helps to give more favour to the entire meal and make things more interesting. I love Korean side dishes somehow not really into Kimchi. But personally Paniya's kimchi taste better for me compare to Uncle Jang. But overall i still prefer side dishes from Nak Won because of variety and i think Nak Won has more stuff that you usually saw in Korean drama. You guys can check it out from my 2013 birthday post.
